There are few foods that on their own provide the perfect mix of protein and carbohydrates. The very short list includes:
  1. A boiled egg
  2. Yogurt – Greek is ideal for added protein
  3. Nuts – almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pecans and pistachios are great examples
  4. Roasted chickpea, soybeans or other legumes
  5. Edamame – steamed soybean pods
